The Importance of Creating Safety for those in Residential Treatment

My name is Janice Story, I am the Equine and Meditation Coach at Soberman’s Estate. I know from my own personal experiences, that you cannot heal if you don’t feel safe in your surroundings or in your own body. I also understand how challenging it can be to recognize and find safety. When it comes to addiction treatment, the environment in which an individual recovers can significantly influence their journey to sobriety. In particular, the creation of a safe space within a residential treatment center can have profound effects on the recovery process. As leaders in alcohol and substance abuse treatment, we understand the crucial role such a setting plays and incorporate it into every aspect of our care model.

I was struggling with the appropriate words to give to a counterpart as they worked on a blog focused on addiction and relationships. They had a section devoted to intervention and wanted to include a couple names of interventionists as resources to offer the reader. I could not possibly commit to two or even 10 names of professionals, not because I do not know and trust ten individuals, but rather because I know and trust hundreds.

Reducing Anxiety: Let's spread Serenity not Fear

According to the March 13th edition of the USA Today, 41 people in total have died in the US from the Coronavirus. According to the National Center of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism 241 people die every day in the US from alcoholism.

Following through on a decision to enter residential treatment for alcoholism (or other addictions or behavioral health issues such as anxiety, depression, or stress) does not have to be impacted by the coronavirus.
