I heard mala beads were a popular and powerful tool, not just in general, but specifically for clients at Soberman’s Estate luxury drug and alcohol treatment center. I sat down with Janice Story, Equine and Meditation Coach, to learn more about mala beads, and the impact they have on the healing and wellbeing of individuals.
Cool Boredom
Discussing mindfulness is like discussing love, or goodwill; they are intangibles with many different ideas and thoughts surrounding them. Although mindfulness has a definition, it is complex with many layers. One aspect of mindfulness that I found fascinating was its relationship to boredom. In Chogyam Trungpa's book Mindfulness in Action, he has a chapter called Cool Boredom. In it, he states, “Your thought patterns, subconscious gossip, and all of your mind’s chatter become much less interesting. In fact, you begin to find them all very boring.” He goes on to describe hot and cool boredom:
Accelerated Resolution Therapy
What is A.R.T.?
Accelerated Resolution Therapy is an evidence-based treatment method recognized by SAMHSA, the VA, and the Department of Defense to treat a variety of mental health issues, especially trauma and post-traumatic stress. It uses a combination of techniques to rewire the way in which the brain stores distressing memories, so they no longer trigger strong physical and emotional reactions.
As a woman of 60 years, I have personally lost my mom, sister, and brother to suicide. This is what motivated me to write an article for World Suicide Prevention Day. Here I share with you information and resources you may need if you ever find yourself in this type of situation.
August 31st is National Overdose Awareness Day. Did you know over 70,000 individuals passed away due to a drug overdose in 2019? Soberman’s Estate founder, Mitch Prager, opened Soberman’s Estate in honor of his brother Jeff Prager, and his best friend Jerry Josen. Jeff passed away of an overdose in 2010.
Below are photos of "Jeff's Bench" at Soberman's Estate.
Soberman’s Estate Residential Treatment Center for alcohol and addictions recently built a medicine wheel on its discreet 5-acre property in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. The implementation of this unique tool was inspired by the Native American Medicine Wheel healing practices. I sat down with Diana Gogan, Medicine Wheel Expert and Equine Therapist, to learn more about medicine wheels, and how they help individuals on their healing journeys.

July 24th is International Self Care Day. The Soberman's Estate team collaborated, including our Registered Nurses and Meditation Coach, to create a nighttime routine for clients, alumni, and anyone looking for a good night's sleep.
A nighttime routine can help with entering a positive and relaxed state of mind before bed, which can improve sleep quality, mindset and well being for the following day, and lead to numerous health benefits.
Supporting Individuals with PTSD, Trauma, and Addiction on July 4
To most people, July Fourth is a day of honoring our nation’s independence, a time for celebrating our freedom. It’s a day filled with backyard barbecues, swimming, outdoor games, or maybe an impromptu picnic or trip to the lake. The finale is then topped off with a spectacular display of colorful confetti, and bright starburst lights in the night sky. Followed by “booms” and “bangs” and “ooohhs” and “aahhhhs” from the spectators below that seem to echo throughout the world. Sounds incredible, right?

We all know that alcoholism and addiction are serious diseases, affecting many people without discrimination, but the conditions that go along with these diseases are just as serious.
