Our first question was, how can we support 10,000 Beds mission?
First, we want to share information about how treatment centers can partner with 10,000 Beds through the following link to offer a scholarship bed for those seeking treatment:

Second, 10,000 Beds is having a “Gratitude Gala” on Saturday, March 21 at The Phoenix Art Museum and promises to be a terrific event. They are currently in the process of procuring items for the silent auction that will take place at the gala. Their goal is to raise $50,000 in silent and live auctions. Proceeds raised through the event will support individuals seeking treatment for addiction through the 10,000 Beds scholarship program. “We envision a world where individuals in recovery from a substance use disorder are not sidelined because of their past, but welcomed, embraced and included as valuable, lovable people with limitless futures.” – Founder, Jean Krisle
“While staying with friends on their houseboat at Lake Powell, we decided to go for an early morning hike to the dam. Peeking through the shadows were these brilliant prickly pear blooms opening to catch the morning sun. Watching the bee buzz in and out collecting his nectar was a wonderful little gift. The desert can seem a harsh and dry environment and often it is, yet the spring blooms are something special to experience. It reminds me of our lives, often our circumstances can be difficult and harsh, even painful and yet there is always light and beauty when you look for it, something to be grateful for.”
Lucy is currently showing her Safari Adventures series collection of 14 paintings which is on exhibit at the Phoenix Zoo’s “Art on the Wild Side” juried exhibition.
“Art on the Wild Side” is a great collaboration between The Arizona Center for Nature Conservation/Phoenix Zoo and select local artists to display their work in our new Savanna Gallery. This rotating exhibit enhances our guests’ experience to not only see live animals on Zoo grounds, but also be inspired by the beautiful artwork along the walls of the Gallery, helping us communicate the importance of national and international conservation efforts.
Exhibited artwork embraces the mission of the Phoenix Zoo: to advance the stewardship and conservation of animals and their habitats while providing experiences that inspire people and motivate them to care for the natural world.” -Linda Hardwick, Director of Communications, ACNC/Phoenix Zoo.
Lucy is joined by artist Joye DeGoede and Ann Peyton. A portion of the painting sale proceeds benefit the Zoo’s conservation initiatives. Zoo admission is required.
